Ok this is good! This is my second favorite in the series so far! Amy Starr is an undercover cop infiltrating a crime ring in a dystopian world. This novella is chalk full of character, gore, surprises, and world building. Muir packs a punch in less than 60 pages. Although it falls a little short character development wise and leaves a little confusion about the world/environment (when/where/how etc.) the content we are given is creative and engaging. Definitely a solid 60 page read!

‘Undercover’ is an adult fantasy short story about an undercover detective infiltrating a gang. The story has a bit of a horror vibe with creatures known as ghouls, undead humans that are cannibals.

I really loved this plot, this was SO GOOD, definitely my favourite in the series so far and I think it’d be hard to top. I loved the characters, especially Lucille and Starr. Loved that it was sapphic as well! Also, the narration was soo good and the reveal at the end.. chefs kiss, I did not predict that! This was really fun.

Rep - Sapphic (the Widower; Starr; Lucille)

TWs/CWs - Alcohol; Blood; Body Horror; Cussing; Death; Euthanasia; Gangs; Gore; Gun Violence; Imprisonment; Infection; Murder; Snake; Violence

If there's one thing I expect in Tamsyn's writing, it's queer characters and the undead.

It's a little gem with a twist ending.
