Gritty. Comical but poignant. A striking metaphor for what it feels like to be a woman, fighting against societal norms and expectations, and living in our own bodies feeling like we are fighting against those too. A glorious werewolf story, but not just. A story about releasing the inner she wolf inside us all, about finding, and loving, ourselves through the chaos of life. A fucking fantastic read!

I don’t read horror novels, like ever. But this book changed that for me! Such Sharp Teeth is about rage and self discovery and love and trust and fear and transformation and forgiveness. And damn did I love it.

Though the body horror was hard for me to stomach at times, the novel is so well written that it was almost easier to swallow. The way Rachel Harrison tackles abuse and trauma is so refreshing and accurate and poignant. It’s rare that traumatic experiences are written with such grace and nuance. And the parallels between Rory and Scarlet’s experiences with bodily autonomy and shame ? Chefs kiss. It was real and raw and wonderful.

If you want a feminist werewolf healing romance with a snarky and endearing cast of characters, you should absolutely read this book. Even if you’re not normally a “scary book girlie,” this book is so worth the read.

This book had me hooked. I binged the first 6 hours of the audiobook while on a roadtrip. It’s funny, kind of gross and full of so much heart. There were so many parallels; the rage Rory had from her childhood trauma and the rage she felt as the wolf, losing control of her body/life the same way her twin felt being pregnant. I wasn’t expecting a romance (it’s definitely a subplot, there is an HEA but I would not categorize this as a romance) but enjoyed it all the same! I definitely recommend listening to this on audio if you can the narrator did an amazing job!

I’m not normally a horror person, but I’ve been trying to diversify my genres. I’m glad I picked this one. It was so good!

One of the characters was so annoying to me. I just wanted to shake them by the shoulders 😅 I couldn’t tell if they were being nonchalant and didn’t care or were trying to be spiteful.

The descriptions were very well-written. The dialogue was cheeky and witty without being corny. Rory was written like a ~real~ person. With flaws but also redeeming qualities. She didn’t feel superficial at all.

Just overall a great book!
