Such a fun take on the classic Gingerbread Man! My first graders thought this was great.

Who can resist a Jan Brett book? Her detailed but not overwhelming illustrations make her books perfect for revisiting again and again to see and find new things each time.

This is another great read by Jan Brett. I love the illustrations and again the little pictures on the ends of the pages that give a preview of what’s coming up. My daughter really enjoyed this one she said it was just like the gingerbread man hahah.

This is a terrific board book that I got my niece for Christmas. The illustrations are amazingly intricate and the story is absolutely adorable.

I previewed this in advance of sharing it with my kindergarteners to coincide with their classroom gingerbread unit. The story is fun and familiar with an enjoyable, clever twist thrown in near the end. Brett's illustrations are beautifully detailed and enhance the story's events. A very cute take on a classic story!

I love Jan Brett but there is some real funny business going on in this story.

Why do Matti's parents leave him home alone with the oven on? That's a terrible idea.

Then Matti is USING the oven! How old is this kid?!

He's reading a recipe for a gingerbread boy but somehow magically creates an entire gingerbread house, decorated and all, in the same amount of time.

The gingerbread baby is drawn to the scent of the gingerbread house. Uhhhh... cannibal baby?

A gift from Erin to Nolan, one of his firsts. Big brothers both loved it too, especially Aidan---who has such a hard time eating anything he deems "too cute".
