Overall a good analysis. I found some gaps in statements and there was a lack of context in some subjects, but I think the point of the book stands true.
An insightful and critical book that looks at general American topics in high school textbooks.
Hopefully most of the history here won't be news to anybody who took college level history courses, but for anybody that only has a high school level understanding of history, especially from before the 90s, there may be some surprises. I was surprised to learn how overtly racist Woodrow Wilson was and how that translated into backwards foreign policy across Latin America.
It was also interesting to hear another perspective critical of the textbook selection process.

Super duper good at the end! Pretty good the way through, although there were moments when it felt like the author might be pandering to Republicans a little to try and entice ALL READERS into carefully considering his message. Which was occasionally a bit off putting, but not enough for me to be fully off-put
Great concept, average execution. The chapters could’ve been more interesting, but they were so long-winded that I ended up daydreaming and then realizing I had “read” 5 pages. He would go on for 50 pages on a subject that could’ve been summed up in 20-25 pages. It was such a drag to get through, and I couldn’t wait to finally finish this book. Overall disappointed. 2 stars.
