Ethereal, beautiful and written like art. No notes.

Vacker, sorglig, rolig. Denna har allt! Pricken över i:et var författarens egna inläsning, sättet hon fick karaktärerna att komma till liv på en helt ny nivå.

Oh where to begin? This book took me a hot minute to get through, but it was consistently enjoyable throughout. I loved the characters, and the found family they weaved together. This is a perfect spring-to-summer lit fic pick. The imagery is  palpable, the characters and their narratives resonate, and Winman’s writing is just sublime. It makes you feel everything. I would definitely recommend it, but really take your time with the writing.

I HATE it when authors are too lazy to use correct punctuation. Quotations were developed for a reason.

Not what I expected and I didn’t love the structure, but I grew very attached to the characters

Did not enjoy the slow pace, jumping between character perspectives.

This deeply tender book had me outright sobbing (repeatedly, continuously even) at the wonder of the human experience. Sadness and happiness alike were made beautiful by the author’s prose. The reading experience felt like a meandering walk through the Rocky Mountains (or some similarly inspiring location on Condé Nast lists) that I did not want to end.

This was possibly the happiest war book I’ve ever read. Whimsical, light-hearted, and fun this book read like the Italian version of The Little Women. Familial, platonic, and love with life. Just love in all fashions. Took a while, but glad I read.
