I only made it halfway through this book. I usually have a 100 page rule but kept giving this book more time to engage me. Unfortunately, once I passed page 200 and still didn't care I had to give up. This book had no suspense; there was no tension. And the characters felt very one-dimensional. Very disappointing; I hate giving up on books.

My first novel to read by Lincoln Barclay was a home run, and absolute page-turner! I love a well-plotted, fast-paced, clever, suspenseful, twisty tale, and this one from 2008 checks all the boxes!
Taking place in upstate New York, this is an excellent whodunnit full of shock and suspense. It centers around a triple homicide witnessed by the 17-year old next-door neighbor.
I highly recommend this tangled web of intrigue, secrets and lies, surprising revelations and jaw-dropping twists. I will certainly read more from Barclay.

A surprising read! Didn't think I would warm to the main character as I did and I really enjoyed the way the mystery unfolded

I feel like this guy hates women and the ending was pretty corny

Didn’t like any of the characters. Juvenile writing. If you gotta call you place a “fuck palace” it definitely isn’t one.

I have read other books by Linwood Barclay and have always enjoyed them. This story did not disappoint. Full of twists and turns with a satisfying ending. The book is about a young man who is arrested for a triple murder, and a dad and mom who try their hardest to prove their son innocent. Other characters are introduced and the crime is much more complicated that it appears. A good read overall!

This was my first sample of Barclay's prose and I wasn't disappointed. Reading the synopsis of the book created a little excitement, and although I found the 'twists' a little too predictable, it was a fairly enjoyable read. Worth picking up, but I don't expect I'll read it again.
