I liked this book, though I feel it wasn't up to par with the author's usual writing. It was fun to listen to the audiobook, but I found the story was more a family drama than a thriller, in my opinion. I didn't find the twist at the end to be satisfying, and it was a bit predictable. All in all, I enjoyed the book but I won't reread it.

I’m not sure if this just wasn’t a good book for me to listen to on audio or I would have felt the same way reading a physical copy but I didn’t find myself super invested about halfway through. There’s a murder in the beginning and the rest of the book is trying to discover who did it with every character seeming suspicious. By the end once it was revealed, it wasn’t made out to be this big deal which I felt was kind of anti climactic. I did find the family/friend relationships interesting especially seeing them all start to doubt and question each other and how tragedy can either draw people together or apart. If you can, I’d read this rather than listen or at least don’t plan to multitask while listening since there are a lot of characters and I found that a bit hard to keep straight on audio. If you’re a fan of rich family murder mysteries with a ton of unreliable characters, then this one is for you!

This book gave major Knives Out vibes.
Overall I enjoyed it, but there were times where the pacing slowed down. I was pretty invested the whole time though. The author did a great job of spreading the suspicion—I had so many theories about who did it. Because of this, I was lowkey underwhelmed by the ending and wish it had been more complex. Still a good read though!

I’d give this 3.5 stars - a quick read, one of those whodunnits where the perpetrator could be any number of the flawed characters in the victims’ orbit, and red herrings abound. I read it in a single sitting, which is a testament to its beach-friendliness (or whatever the autumnal equivalent is).

the book was good, the little plots were keeping me on my toes but then the ending was soooo predictable
I really liked this book, it had me guessing till the very end. The reveal of the killer felt anticlimactic but the epilogue helped.
