i DNFed it- no rating. really hard to follow along with 6 characters, and i felt like it was rushed,
from what i can tell in the other reviews the headmaster did it. which seems like sure, a good ending, but i think if one of the main characters like bex did it then it would be cooler. just my opinion though!

Interesting read. Nothing new, sort of shallow. Pretty love story on the side. Doesn't bite off more than it can chew, thank goodness.

As a disclaimer, I want to mention that I’m reading this book as an adult man. There were definitely parts where I felt that maybe the kids are just a little too overpowered to a point of being unrealistic. Yes the school is intended to be for the best of the best students but still it’s a little crazy that there was a pro gamer with eidetic memory and a knack for being able to hack a system that makes up the fabric of their society. That’s the main character I have gripes with because it is so unrealistic but he is also integral to their plan to resolve the conflict. If anything the group of 6 main characters is assembled power rangers style to start a revolution but the hacker seems likely to pull all the weight in the group project though there is foreshadowing of that too. The surprise reveal at the end that it was the headmaster all along didn’t surprise me at all because he was the most likely person to have been able to do the acts of vandalism. However I did enjoy the story and the mannerisms of the high schoolers. It portrays an accurate picture of a high pressure school that expects its students to do the impossible. Having gone to one myself, I can definitely think of classsmates that are similar to each character. It’s a good read but not as much science fiction as I would have originally thought going im.

This was sub-par. It's not bad but also definitely not good. It had zero exposition or world-building. The title, cover, and synopsis all suggest a rating-system story, but the book has like 2% rating-related stuff and 98% stereotypes.

It has a dyslexic, abused, mean but actually kind jock. There are two overachievers with mean parents, and characterless outcasts. They also randomly become friends and happen to do stuff the book doesn't cover but are actually major plot points.

It's not good. Really not good.

I enjoyed this book up until the end, I love the backstories and differences of the characters. Though, the ending just disappointed me.
Rated is about a group of six teens joining together to basically boycott the rating system- which determines their quality of life, what they can buy, where they can go, etc.
(Spoilers ahead!)
The ending was so disappointing! It was very predictable and not enjoyable. It seemed to not work well with the rest of the book. Rated feels like the kind of book that shouldn't have that kind of ending. It would have been cool to see some more action; maybe the six teens could start a secret organization dedicated to getting rid of the ratings (not with help of an adult). The fact that the principal (forgot his name) was in on it kind of ruined the book for me. It's always interesting to see books like this end with the characters being independent and making changes with each other, without the help of authority. Plus, with an ending like that, it implies that there's a sequel... there is not.
Though, I do have to say, I really enjoyed the ships! I'm a sucker for that kinda stuff.
