Reading and hearing the Lord's Prayer in the original Aramaic is as eye opening as I'd hoped it would be. Now, if only this could fall into the hands of more "literalists", who still think the KJV is the "final word".

Beautiful, I could read these translations over and over.
Here is one example (for a taste :) - but they are all stunning!)
O Birther! Father-Mother of the Cosmos,
Focus your Light within us—make it useful:
Create your reign of unity now—
Your one desire then acts with ours,
As in all light, so in all forms.
Grant what we need each day in bread and insight.
Loose the cords of mistakes binding us,
As we release the strands we hold of others’ guilt.
Don’t let surface things delude us.
But free us from what holds us back.
From you is born all shaping will,
the power and the life to do,
the song that beautifies all,
from age to age it renews.
Truly—power to these statements–
May they be the ground from which all
My actions grow: Amen.

I especially liked the first part on the Lord's Prayer. He really opened up the meanings in the prayer. It's so much more expanded for me now and has made it new and so meaningful-something I feel is a prayer from my heart. I have a sense that Jesus would have actually had this prayer in mind to open his followers up to being like himself.

Love this accessibly short book translating the Lord's Prayer and the Beatitudes from Aramaic (the language Jesus spoke in) rather than Greek (the language almost all current Bible translations are from). I like that the book says our modern translations aren't wrong, they're just limited. Boy does the Aramaic really open the meaning up! I highly suggest this for anyone for whom the words of Jesus feel uninspiring or have become rote. This book is likely to bring refreshing wonder and imagination back to these well known passages. He breaks down each translation and also includes many ideas for what he calls "Body Prayers" which are filled with great ideas for meditation.
