I loved this take on a preacher who was skeptical of faith. I will say, this book made me feel feelings, particularly regarding Mr. Paige.

I can't wait to see who the rest of the lost boys end up with.

These two were a perfect match.

This is the first book in a new series but there are people you will recognize in this book from previous Fox works. This was a sweet, sexy, steamy, emotional read about a preacher who is questioning his faith(Beckett) and Holden who is leaving a cheating boyfriend to go help his sick dad.

Here I am, just trying to live, and Kelly Fox delivers a book that gave me EVERY FEELING simultaneously with what may amount to a bucket of tears.

I LOVED this book.
 Every single star.

The Skeptic is set in Seguin, a small town in Texas with a budding queer community. The series is set around the "Lost Boys," a group of queer adults who were mentored as teens by their beloved shop teacher, Mr. PAIGE. The adults either stayed or are in the process of moving back to reclaim their town and be a part of the growing changes.

The Skeptic is Beckett and Holden's story. Beckett, the tattooed preacher who questions the existence of God and believes in ministering and helping his community. Holden, Mr. Paige's son, who [redacted] but moves back to Seguin to be with his parents.

I can't recommend this book enough. It's set in Kelly's Texas universe. So you see familiar faces, but this new group really captures the heart.

šŸ’š Beckett's care and kindness
šŸ©µ sweet Holden with his religion k!nk
šŸ’œ Ren! And Pops. But REN, and their love šŸ˜šŸ˜
šŸ’š the found family vibes are immaculate
šŸ’œ the Chase story is hard to read, but important
šŸ©µ the way the community shows up
 šŸ’š Carl!
šŸ©µ the epilouge, oh my god

To say I loved this book is an understatement. This was the hug I needed with the community vibes that make me excited to read the next book. Which I will start immediately when I'm home.

Kelly is a real artist.
 I loved Beckett and Holden.
I can't wait to see them in the next book.

" I imagined scooping out handfuls of that black tar from my insides and letting the wind take it. By the time we hit the Idaho border, I felt free."

Found family + Priest Kink!

This was fun and heartfelt, with all the queer found family and support systems I've come to expect from Kelly Fox.

And the priest kink! So. Hot.

If you've read the Wrecked: Guardians series, Beckett came up in that as Erik's former fuck buddy and Erik and Ant appear briefly. Anders is also mentioned.

I loved all the found family in this, the Lost Boys relationship is so beautiful. And Holden working out his place alongside them, with their father figure being his actual adopted father, was lovely.

Beckett and Holden are adorable and I loved Beckett's protectiveness.

There are tough scenes in this of bigoted abuse and mention of even tougher scenes in the past, so read the CW and decide if it's right for you.

I took awhile to actually read this one. Something about the description put me off. Iā€™m glad I finally gave it a try because I really enjoyed it!
