That cliffhanger wasn't fair at all đđđđ I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to read a book before the next book is out. To say I'm devastated is an understatement!!! My goodness, that cliffhanger, ugh!!! From the start, I knew who was betraying her. It was obvious. Layla, as a character, is amazing! She's fiery, strong, and so relatable. She has a temper and makes mistakes, but she always tries to own up to them and make it better. I hate how she was betrayed, but I know that this will only make her stronger. While I did enjoy the book, it wasn't perfect. I felt certain names and things were repeated way too much. It was a constant thing. Once I hit the halfway mark, because of the obviousness of the plot twist, made it drag. I will say that the other betrayal was a hard one to see. Not because of the betrayal itself, but because of who it was. It made me so sad for Layla. Rune is such a complex character, too. I just want more of their story and how they will fix all that was destroyed.
Layla, known as the Blood Queen, does anything for peace in her kingdom and to avenge her parentsâ murders. When her kingdom is strife with murders, drugs, and people discussing rebellion Layla struggles to be what she needs to be without losing herself in the process. Her marriage proposal to a Brutal Prince will secure peace in her kingdom. With lies between those she trusts most and lies with her fiancĂŠ her life is thrown into chaos and she struggles to right the wrongs she caused.
âBlood Queenâ by Caitlin Denman is a great fantasy book. I like that only royalty has magical powers and that they have familiars. I loved how Layla is strong but also lacking confidence. I was a little confused with Runeâs character though, he was so confident and cunning at the beginning but then would act so brainless and only good for his brawn at other times which didnât seem to make sense for what Layla ends up finding out he was, but it wasnât that big of a deal for me. I did like their constant fighting between each other. I gave it a 5 out of 5 stars, I was hooked from beginning to end.

Blood Queen by Caitlin Denman

This story started with a bang! And the ending, oh my goodness! Talk about a cliffhanger. This book kept my attention the whole time and I am in love with the characters especially Kier! Soul shards was a cool new concept and I thought it really added an interesting element into the book!
I feel like this was a new twist on a coming of age type story and although the FMC wasnât newly an adult her growth was phenomenal as she figured out her world and what was happening in it!
Blood Queen was a fast paced easy read that I thoroughly enjoyed! I canât wait for book 2!

This book was the perfect start to a new series! I loved the world building and unique magic. Layla is such a strong, independent queen doing whatever she thinks is right for her people while trying to find her parents' killers. I feel like Rune is 50/50 for people. I think his powers affect his anger/temper in ways that haven't been explained yet, but his constant "I'm sorrys" make me not feel bad for him. He is such a flip flop personality that its hard to gauge what's really going on in his head and I love it. He's like Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde. None of the characters fall flat and everyone grew on me so much thought the book. Ill definitely be waiting for the next book to devour it as well!

Blood Queen tells the story of queen Layla who is feared by her subjects. The book begins when her betrothed, prince Rune, arrives to her kingdom. This starts a tumulous relationship between them that raises questions about Laylaâs kingdom and rule. They evolve from lovers to enemies during this process and the end result remains unsolvedâŚ
The story is told from Laylaâs perspective. Both the main characters are flawed and they balance between their own problems and the peace between their kingdoms.
At times though Laylaâs naivety and violenceness got annoying. All in all the book is a good fantasy read, with spicy moments. The story ends in a cliffhanger so it is interesting to see how it will continue!
I received an advanced reader copy of the book and this is my honest opinion that was left voluntarily.

First, I want to thank Caitlin Denman for dending me ARC copy of the book in exchange for an honest review..... so lets get into it.
From the start of the book there is a lot happening. I got sucked into the story while reading the first chapter and it kept me intrigued throughout the whole story. It's fast paced and there are alot twists and turns to keep you suprised. I thought I knew from a few chapters in what kind of story it was going to be and in the end I was both right and wrong.
The same goes for the characters. I thought I knew who would probably be the good guys and who would be the bad guys, but because all the twist I was constantly second guessing myself. At one point I felt like screaming at some of the characters to be less shady so I could figure them out. I mean Rune come on you can see that she has trust issues and you really thinking you are not acting suspicious.
The one thing that I would change about the story is that I would like a little bit more world building at the begining. The characters you get to know pretty well but I would like a little bit more information about the world and kingdom itself so I could imagine everything a little bit easier. But it's not like you need it to understand the story.
So if you like Enemies to lovers, spice, and overall dark vibes this will be your book. One warning though it does contain some mature content.

Blood Queen was the story of a girl who doesn't need any man to save her, but will allow him to tag along as eye candy anyway. I loved this, so, so much. I knew someone was betraying Layla from early on, and I was very suspicious of Rune, especially with his change of character from their first night to the next morning. But holy crap, I did NOT expect the reveal at the end, and that cliffhanger, I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!
