This is just an incredible story that takes you away into a world filled with secrets betrayal and sassy royals!
I absolutely loved every page of it i will never stop recommending this book!
I got hooked from the first page and just coudnt put it down!
The characters are amazing the fmc aka The blood queen is incredibly badass and honestly just an incredible strong woman she endured so much to then find so many horrible things out and even tho she didnt know who to trust anymore she still got herself backup and took that leap and fought back for not only herself but also her kingdom! I absolutely adore and admire her for it not to mention her soul shard is a baddie too and her power is just so perfectly her!
The MMC is just amazing hes protective and funny but also shows his vulnerability in a hot way and also his strength i just absolutely adore him!
The story overal was just such an emotional rollercoaster there was never a moment i felt bored and the writing was just so smooth i felt so connected to not also the people but also the story it was absolutely one of my favourite reads and up my top 10 booklist!

Layla is the Blood Queen. Known for her ruthlessness and proclivity for assasination, Layla refuses to fully commit herself to her role as queen. Her world is turned upside down when Prince Rune, the man she has been arranged to marry, shows up and shows her she may not be able to trust what she has been taught.
This book includes:
- a rivalrous romance
- assassin queen
- arranged marriage
- concealed identities
- betrayal and reconciliation
- familiars
"Blood Queen" has so many elements that I love, and I will not be surprised if it gets popular. Unfortunately, this story was not for me. The story line was very predictable, the characters did not feel well developed, and plot and dialogue read very YA to me. The character building, specifically, almost caused me to DNF several times. Neither Layla or Rune felt grounded in any key traits or motivations and their personalities warped to match any current plot point the characters encountered.
I wish there weren't explicit scenes in this book, so that it could be YA and the book could be marketed to an audience that could enjoy it.
I recommend this book to lovers of "Serpent & Dove," "Raphsodic," and "the Harbinger."
I received this eBook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley, Caitlin Denman, and the Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the opportunity to review this book.

What I Liked
4.5 stars. (This was the 1000th book I've read! Or probably more accurate to say, it's the 1000th book I've marked as "read" on Goodreads.)
Noooooo no no no no it can't end like that!!! I need Book 2 right now!
This book was so good!! I am fully invested in this story. Layla was such an amazing FMC. She was strong, a bit dark, and didn't take sh** from anyone.
The MMC, Rune, starts off strong and dominant, but quickly becomes Layla's follower almost, trailing her around and doing what she says. The occasional dirty talk was good, but a smidge more spice would have been good to back it up.
I cannot wait for the next book!

Spoiler
At the beginning he's all "I want you to submit to me." and then that dominant personality just decreases more and more as the book goes on.I cannot wait for the next book!
This book had me reading late into the night. It was hard to put down because I had to know what was going to happen next. It has touch her and
First....amazing. Second....CLIFFHANGER!!! Third..... read this book. Oh. My. Word. This was a fantasticly fun and fast paced book. I love when we get some good plot twists. Even if they rip your heart out and stomp on it. I loved the characters and their chemistry was so well done and just all around fun! They had excellent banter and while I did get frustrated with Rune bc he just couldn't ..... I dunno he was like a toddler playing chase in a glass shop. He was all bluster and came in hot and then had to apologize bc he came in hot and blustered about lol
Overall I really loved this book. I'm absolutely feral for the characters and I just love the familiars! The steamy spice was sweltering and delicious.
I hate cliffhangers because I never feel like I get enough time in their world. But this is a fantastic series and I'm so glad to have received an ARC for my honest opinion.

I will admit that it took me a little while to get into this book, but once I did I was definitely invested. The various threads of mystery are all interwoven beautifully, and while some twists I found myself predicting very early on there were others which caught me completely by surprise.
I largely enjoyed the dynamic between the FMC and MMC, and while I do love the classic enemies to lovers I did enjoy the change of pace of having lovers to enemies to reluctant allies.
I did find myself wanting a little more in terms of world building, but there is a lot of potential for this to be expanded on further in the sequel - which I'm hoping isn't too far away after that cliff-hanger!! Also as someone who grew up loving the His Dark Materials universe, I couldn't help but love the element of Soul Shards, particularly Keir who is a little bundle of sass at times!

Denman rises to the occasion with this twisted tale of blood and legacy. I enjoyed every page, and definitely want it on my shelf now.
First I’d like to thank the author for sending me this Arc in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book for the most part, however I feel like some of the world building needed some work. There were a lot of times especially toward the end where things are mentioned and made out to be huge components to the story but they weren’t mentioned AT ALL leading up to it. It was just poof here’s this super important thing that you had no idea about before but definitely should have. Which is ultimately what made this 3⭐️s for me instead of 4. However, I loved the banter and back and forth between Layla & Rune and their hot and cold relationship. Rune is probably my favorite from the whole book. That ending though!?! WHAT??? I need to know the next part now!!
