This was just another middle of the road one for me personally. Like, the overall story was great and I was entertained by it, however I just never really came around to Daisy. I am proud that she made significant progress throughout the story, but she still got on my nerves quite easily. And I found it hilarious when she was genuinely shocked that the others at camp see her more like a child to take care of than a member of the clan. Like girl, how many times have you literally stated that you are just going to sit still and look pretty. I did really like O'jek by the end of it, but he still doesn't beat out some of my more favorite Ice Planet guys.
Also, I wasn't shocked by the twist at the end that Flor and I'rec resonated, because I knew from the cover of the next book that it obviously wasn't her a R'jaal. I am curious though to see Tia's reaction to all of this.

Daisy and O’Jek
This was a good book! I was really interested in reading more about Daisy and how she would adapt to her appearance changes. Daisy did come off as spoiled and whiny at times but she also made an effort to change by the end. I thought her character had a lot of growth. O’jek was really sweet and patient with Daisy but he did push back against her unwillingness to make an effort. Can’t wait to read the next book!

this is the first ruby book where i felt like she took the miscommunication trope and really ran with it — even more so than in the early books where there were language barriers.
i can excuse a language barrier situation — in fact i love them — but this installment in the icehome series is rife with the tedious kind of miscommunication — the type where neither party admits what they’re feeling, and instead relies on convoluted conflicts and ‘i want you’ ‘i don’t want you’ ‘i want you again’ ‘i’m scared’ back-and-forth tug-of-wars between the two characters.
daisy is not the most palatable of FMCs, and o’jek started out strong, but unraveled for me about halfway through. regardless, this was cute, but ultimately nothing particularly special.
