I really enjoyed this story, but I wish it had been at least 50% longer. There were so many details we didn't get. We didn't really learn much of anything about Kaz, other than he's in college, apparently he's a Dom of some sort, and he's an activist.

We learned much more about Graham, and even his friend/unrequited love, Jackson. Graham is a rodeo rider/horse breeder who has been in love with his friend Jackson for years. Something almost happened between them a year ago, and things have been awkward between them ever since. Graham freaked out and ran at the last moment, just like he always does when he tries to be with a man, and so the next day, Jackson pushed if all off as a drunken thing, of course he wasn't gay.

At least not until Kaz came into the picture. Kaz was one of a group of protestors who showed up outside of the rodeo. These people really irritated me, they didn't seem to know a lot about what they were protesting. Totally clueless about how the animals were really treated, or so it seemed. But I liked Kaz, and I REALLY liked him once his inner dom came out.

It's so rare to see the younger, smaller guy be the self assured take charge one, and I loved that dynamic in this one. I loved that he saw the cues in Graham, and helped Graham face what he needed. Do I think they lived happy ever after? Not without some major issues between them, but I think they can manage to work it out.

The sex in this was off the freaking charts hot. I damn near combusted every time Graham and Kaz were together.

I just wish there had been more. More to the building of an actual relationship, not just the sex, and I really wish we had gotten to know more about everyone, especially Kaz. I don't even know how old these guys were, just that Kaz was younger and still in college, but apparently, old enough to drink.

And I really hope we get another story where Jackson gets his HEA. No, I didn't want him and Graham to end up together after Kaz came on the scene, but that didn't mean that I didn't like the guy a lot, and that my heart didn't kinda break for him once he realized he'd blown his shot with Graham.

I felt this was just getting going when we got to the end!
I also wanted a bit more background on Graham (and Jackson) so that I could be in his head more - whilst the roping did work in calming him, it kind of came out of the blue. Also where they were, age etc could have helped me settle into the mechanics of the story a bit easier.
Kaz was a contradiction, appearing a bit unsure of himself (was he young, again not sure on age) but put him in an intimate setting and he was alpha dog!
I did like their relationship, the give and take in and out of the bed room.
I liked it, was just expecting more depth to the mental side of things (my expectation) and would have loved more pages! (I'm just greedy!)
Nice clean writing, easy to read style.

This was so sweet and so hot at the same time. Just enough angst to pair it with, with a HEA and resolution of conflict both internal and external.

Definitely a relisten in my future!

Casper Percy Miller, AKA Kaz, is a college student protesting the rodeo’s treatment of animals. He meets Graham Montgomery, rodeo rider, under some tense moments during a protest.

Graham is a longtime rodeo rider. He doesn’t know what he wants—until he sees Kaz. Apart from the attraction, Graham wants to share his knowledge of horses and their treatment to prove to Kaz there’s no abuse.

Graham and Kaz are opposite in character. Kaz is young and a little immature. He’s headstrong in his opinions and would rather run than talk things out. He wants to be in control of all situations. Graham, being older, has had to hide his sexuality and has never been in a relationship. Once he and Kaz have an intimate moment, Graham knows what he needs and can’t see himself finding that with anyone but Kaz.

I had mixed feelings about Jackson, Graham’s best friend. I sort of felt sorry for him because he seemed to be in some kind of denial; he waited until it was too late to tell Graham how he felt. Jackson also seemed to be missing a certain level of respect for Graham, so all those mistakes Jackson made led to a great loss.

Whether it’s a Marie Sexton or L.A. Witt book, you’re always treated to a well written story, and I think this was a good collaboration. The characters were solid and brought lots of emotion to the storyline. Even though Roped In is a shorter novel, it’s nicely paced and has a lot of diversity.

This was more sex-centric than romance based, so if you are looking for something well written and sexy then this is a good bet. It has some light BDSM (tying up, etc.) which I am also not into, but I know a lot of people are.

Personally I like more romance-driven romance novels. I wanted to learn more about Kaz and Graham and even Jackson! I never really connected to the characters like I usually would, but they are likeable.

I think the ending was a bit abrupt, but it was a short book so it wasn’t a surprise. Like I said, I wanted more of these two and their growing romance. It felt like they had a lot of chemistry but the romantic love between the two fell short for me, even though they were talking about their relationship.

If you are interested in a more sex-driven cowboy book that is a light read then I think you’ll really enjoy this. I have enjoyed other books by these authors, so if this book doesn’t sound right for you I would suggest poking around their works to find something that does!

(I personally love the works these ladies have done for the Tucker Springs series if you want a recommendation.)
