Picked this back up for nostalgia. I know for a fact that I'm not the target audience for this but I still appreciate it a lot.
I’ve loved this book since I was a kid. Original, funny, and magically charming. Each character was lovingly crafted, refreshingly relatable, and wonderfully unique (except the Shouter twins!)

A beloved youth favorite. I love Eva Ibbotson’s writing style; I feel like a posh-but-still-fun-and-funky British widow is reading it out loud to me.

Looking through the new Goodreads recommendations thing, and I guess they have it down pretty good because I read this years ago and absolutely LOVED it. I read it numerous times, which is pretty unusual for me; I usually like to read new books instead of reread. I really want a copy of this now.
I still absolutely love this childhood favorite. Glad I was able to read it while home.

So glad I read this again as an adult! I love it as much as I did when reading it as a kid! It's just so much fun, and a little dark and twisted! The writing is so amazing, and the characters really come to life! Going to have to reread her other books now too!
