Every once in a while I find my reading program turning to something educational. This first entry in the Men's Adventure Library Journal series does just that. The focus is on Killer Creatures in the Men's Adventure Magazines popular back in the second half of the 20th century. There are five short stories included herein, all reprints of stories that first appeared in such magazines as "True Men", "Man's Conquest", and "Male". In addition there are several pictorial sections, chock full of numerous magazine covers depicting the incredible artwork of the period.

This is fun to read as well as just to look through. And as I said, it's educational. I learned quite a bit about the magazines and the artwork but also important safety tips. Like, if I ever find myself surrounded by a pit full of poisonous snakes, man-eating crabs, or ferocious mountain lions, it's important to have a scantily clad female along with me because the Killer Creatures tend to go for them first. Similarly, should I find myself surrounded by scantily clad females, I need to start looking for the Killer Creatures because they are sure to show up soon.

In all seriousness, this is a great first entry in the line-up. My hats off to Bob Deis and Wyatt Doyle for putting this together. I'm looking forward to perusing more of these products.
