Based on the sijo form, this a cute collection of student thoughts. It's a great thought excitement I'd love to test with my 8th graders.

i wanted to check out something different so i went to the poetry section on libby and found this. my favorite part is the kid who said pete alonso is the best baseball player ever. it also got me thinking about how i have a little box of things beside my bed that i would take with me in an emergency. very thought provoking. i liked this a lot

April 25, 2021: I did not expect to laugh and I certainly did not expect to cry. This is such a beautiful project and the poems are so heartfelt. I just read the ebook, but I immediately want a copy for my bookshelf! This is the quality stuff you force your friends to read and they thank you for it. 5/5 stars of soul food.

April 28, 2022: I finally bought and reread this gem, and it was just as beautiful as the first time. I am only now realizing that it’s been almost exactly a year since I first found and read it. Now I am going to do as I said in 2021 and force my mom to do the same.

A cute book that’s best preformed! There are different voices speaking so it might be better as an audiobook. I wish the illustrations were in color. All in all, this book would be a good intro for a child learning about poetry outside of haiku. Most of these poems are using the sijo poem structure.
