Weirdly enough, this was just not my jam. Some of the humor made me laugh out loud, but other times it felt really forced and a drag. This is my second time attempting this book, just not clicking.

I have nothing to say: this is one of the best fantasy books I've ever read. I'd love to have discovered Pratchett when I was a teenager

My first Terry Pratchett book. Although I liked the book, I found it hard to follow at times. It jumped around so much it was like I had to continually refocus. Either way I plan on reading more of the series.

I like this book better than Hitchhiker's Guide. Don't worry, I still have my towel, but I just found this to be way funnier.

This book made me laugh from the beginning till the end. I didn't have any particular expectations and I didn't worry too much about the opinions of others, so I had a great time experiencing this book. Where some of Adams' humor was lost on me, Pratchett's made complete sense. Where Adams' science bored me, Pratchett's fantasy entertained.

Even though book 1 gets a lot of (unwarranted) hate, I thought it was a great journey. Of course the books could stand alone...that's the brilliance of Pratchett...but I think reading them in sequence works well for the jokes and the overall story. I don't think you need to keep them all in order, but at least sequence the storylines.
