DONT READ IF YOU DONT LIKE SPOILERS....

I really wish the ending wasn't good in the last book because the ending of the last book is what made me decided to just read this one. I wish I didnt to be honest. I dont mean to be harsh but I just didn't like it. I wanted to. It sounded like a book. I would love to read but I just didn't like it at all. Spoilers ahead...

First off it started really slow. You kind of know Jack is alive and kind of don't. I just didn't like Hazels wishy wash attitude when it came to him. She said she was hopelessly in love with him. Then she's all attracted to someone else and kissing him. I get that she didn't owe anything to Jack but if you say you feel so much for someone and are supposed to be so in love yet turn around and kiss the next handsome guy at least set it up where she's ready to move on or something. It was portrayed like she was so in love with him and couldn't live with out him and she never wanted to be with anyone else. It just got on my nerves in the book.

The story in the middle picked up for me when Jack was brought back. But even then when we saw what happen to him and the reason he didn't reach out to Hazel and just stole her horse. He didn't even have the best reason to just leave her. I mean I get he didn't want to say bye to her just wanted to give up on her becausehe was "immorta". But why write a letter saying he's waiting for her? He just guessed she would think he was dead? That didn't make any sense to me.

Also I didn't get it in the last book still don't get it now but why is making out in a grave yard next to a dead body like a thing for them? I just couldn't see like - ya let's kiss and get hot and heavy here next to a dead person. That was just a strange part of the book.

The part about the some gifted and famous society of immortal people just pulling the strings of the governments of the world. Was a bit quarky it was interesting in a way I guess but when she says at the end she will never be like that. Ya okay, (you cant see it obviously but my eyes are rolling lol) if you have no accountability what would keep you from justifying your actions like they did and saying it was for the good of the people. Especially if you live forever. It seems to me everyone that took the elixir was pretty much the same. They all seemed to justify harming people here and there for the supposed good of the rest of the people. I just think Hazel hasn't lived long enough to say she wouldn't ever be tempted to do that. Like isn't black and white like that. I would hope she could keep her word I just don't think its likely given human nature.

There are also some heavy triggers in here that I wish I knew about. Like mentions of abortion and miscarriage. There is also graphic details of surgeries and such. So it has a bit of gor to it. It also has mentions of sex not completely graphic but there are mentions of nudity. There is also mentions of female  chest nudity in a caught in the act part of the book. I feel like in these cases this should be marked as upper YA/NA science fiction section. But that's just my opinion. It's all just my opinion lol.

I really wish I could have liked these books.

This is the second and final book in The Anatomy Duology. It follows Hazel as she ends up in London after being accused of murder, where she is tasked with treating Princess Charlotte for an unknown illness. While in London, she is not only tapped to join a secret society called The Companions to the Death, but she is also reunited with an old friend.

I ended up giving both Anatomy and Immortality 4 stars, but whereas Anatomy was a high 4 stars for me, Immortality is more of a low 4 stars. Even though in the end I did still enjoy and have fun with Immortality, overall, I just felt that it was a little underwhelming. My main problem with the book is the pacing. I felt like the first half of this book dragged on for way too long, and it meant that we didn’t get to spend enough time on the most interesting plot points (exploring The Companions to the Death, Jack and Hazel finding each other again, etc.). In fact, none of these things occurred until more than half way through the book. I think that if the first half of the book was cut down, and we got to spend more time focusing and expanding on the Companions, and Jack and Hazel rebuilding their relationship, then this book could’ve been a fantastic conclusion to this duology. Instead, we spent the first half of the book with Hazel as she tries to treat Charlotte’s “illness” and watching Hazel flirt with some guy we already know she’s not gonna end up with. Like I said, I did enjoy this book for what it was, I’m glad that we got to be with Hazel and Jack again, and I liked where these characters ended up, but honestly after reading this I think I would’ve been okay with Anatomy just being a stand alone novel that had a more open ending, and the second half of this book just being turned into a novella that served to wrap up the story and answer any lingering questions.

I much preferred the first book. This one wasn't nearly as gothic, though I did enjoy the

What an enjoyable sequel. I loved the addition of real life aspects being intertwined with this work of fiction. I don't think I enjoyed it more than the first though, the beginning was pretty slow. It wasn't until chapter 21 when things really started picking up tbh.

I really enjoyed the slight love triangle aspect between Hazel and her two suitors. Simon was a lovely lovely addition, I liked how he treated Hazel with such respect. So was Princess Charlotte and Eliza. Ugh, love them. Honestly, all the characters added to this book were great.

I guess I'm with everyone else when they say they were disappointed Jack didn't show up sooner. We didn't get to experience much of their romance in the first and I feel like the same happened in this one. He doesn't show up until page 238, more than halfway through the book, so it's a big bummer that we don't get more of him. Him and Hazel's connection is so sweet, and especially since it's called 'A Love Story', you would think he's be in it more.

The Companions to the Death were annoying anyways, freaking immortal weirdos trying to play God. Jack/Hazel did the right thing.

CHARLOTTE AND ELIZA MY GIRLS FOREVER I WISH THEM NOTHING BUT THE BEST I LOVE THEM SO MUCH MAKE A SPIN OFF BOOK FOR THEM PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE
