I really enjoyed this book as it had a lot of character development for the series two characters. It was much better the previous two books, except for the ending. With crime books I find that too often the perpetrators always bring themselves to the investigation and thus get caught. It's not a case of the investigators investigating and find the perpetrator. Aside from this point, the book is good read.

As always Tess Gerritsen delivers a fast-paced and engaging detective thriller, this time with more of my beloved Maura Isles (who is distinctly different from her on-screen incarnation). Gerritsen has an undeniable talent for delivering an incredible story with intelligence and succinctness that is highly commendable, and I cannot wait to delve into the other 10 books in this series.
This would have easily been five stars if it wasn't for the weird romance between Jane and Agent Dean, and the overall Pro-life message this book carries with it. I am not too upset about it, considering this book was written in 2004, a very different climate, and I find Gerritsen's handling of Rizzoli's character very nuanced and complex for the time period, such as her inner conflict with internalized misogyny and her distinct distrust of everyone. But, knowing the woman Jane Rizzoli is, I just wish Gerritsen committed to Jane's autonomy in choice, or at least gave us a far better man than Dean, because let's be honest, he is completely uninteresting and Rizzoli would not waste her time on him, let alone have HIM be the one to break her impenetrable defenses . I praised how the romance was written last time, but I can't do it again chief.

Another great book in the Rizzoli and Isle series! The mystery was well done and not at all predictable. Both Rizzoli and Isles are strong female characters and it's exciting going along with them solving different cases. There wasn't too much side story besides Jane and Maura's romantic relationships which in Maura's case pertained to the storyline while Jane aided in her character development and saw a different side to her than the cop who has to keep up with all the guys she works with.

Till now I read three books from this series, including this one... And as always it didn't disappoint
Tess Gerritsen does such a good job! I absolutely love her thrillers <3
They have something in them that makes you so involved in the story and the characters! I'm quite a slow reader, but somehow I read her books in a flash... I literally can't get away from them!
Also,
Jane, Jane, Jane... I'm happy for you, but please, for the love of god, shut the fuck up sometimes :)
If communication was essential to live, she would be six feed deep long ago!
Still hope this relationship will last, though~
