When I first discovered this series I had no idea it would go on to be a favorite eclipsing everything else in the genre. Tom Wood's writing of Victor is just so unbelievably brilliant. Ten books in and still no dip in quality.

Experience:

The Good:
"A good book reads itself" is a personal saying of mine, that has become even more apparent after I had a back to back spell with two books where the authors kind of forgot the medium they were using, there was too much fluff and no descriptions to bring things to life.

It was a joy to get back to the free flowing, cinematic style of Tom Wood. I had to consciously pace myself to really savor every part of it.

I am now certain that no other author can start a thriller better than Tom Wood. The opening action sequence and all others that followed were spell binding, showing all there is to love about Victor with his boldness and super calculating mind.

Victor's incarceration was especially interesting, first he not only let it happen but it was fascinating to see him act in an environment where his threat radar was rendered useless.

I thought part one and two of this book were complete perfection and the bulk of the middle did enough to introduce more characters and throw more light on the plot. This book is probably the most twisty in the series.

The Not-Very Good:
The plot was a bit too thin for my liking and that along with some of the supporting characters were the only nicks in an otherwise flawless book. Compared to everything else in the series so far, I felt the antagonists here were not as fleshed out as they needed to be. Even Victor's excellence could not completely make up for that. This resulted in maybe my second least favorite climax in the series so far. The action felt rushed at the end and did not deliver as much as it could have.

It was great to get another installment of the best character in the genre and I hope Tom Wood writes faster.
