I listened to the audio book. The combination of high frequency voices and British accent made it rather difficult to understand.

This is the heartbreaking story of the torpedoing of a ship carrying children to "safety" during world war two. It is based on the true story with details about specific characters left to the author's imagination. I love how the characters, seemingly unconnected, become connected by the tragedy of this disaster.

There’s so much to love about this book. The story is told is such a beautiful, heartbreaking and inspiring way. I immediately was drawn to the characters and as each fell further into their own experience my emotions were taken along with them. The tragedy of the situation is one that is unbelievable. Thankfully we have Auntie Alices in this world. I’ll remember this book forever.

Such a powerful story. Though difficult to read some parts, it was absolutely worth it.
