Well now! I thought I’d read some great books so far this year but this one definitely nudges into a top spot. By the end, i am now a complete mess.

Inspired by the true events of the SS City of Benares which took evacuated children from Europe to Canada. It was so well written I felt I was part of the story.

I felt so close to Alice, Lily, Kitty, to little Billy Fortune, to Arthur, and the other children. An exceptional read, The Last Lifeboat is one I highly recomend.

there was nothing different or special about this book. seemed like a typical stuck at sea story. It felt predictable which took away from any suspense there could have been.

A beautifully written novel centering on a lesser-known tragedy of WWII. I felt this one in my gut.
