Wish I had more opinions. Just not for me I don't think. Also hate the way that dialogue was written. Makes things infinitely more confusing than it needs to be

Good short stories but hard to get into and there were too many characters. The main story was really good and touched on key topics like homophobia, poverty, gentrification etc.

Surface level, I get how it’s a coming of age story about a boy from Houston’s black and Latinx working class roots but other than that... maybe I just have to come back to this book when I’m older.

Took a little bit to get into the writing style, but once I settled into it, it was wonderful and let me a little sad (in a good way).

I am not sure short stories are for me. I also struggled to connect with the characters. It is a well written collection with a lot of depth. Just wasn’t my cup of tea.
