Honestly this was like a 3.5 for me. In the middle I could barely get through the book and even debated DNFing. I love the slow burn and the lead up to the inevitable but sometimes once we get there it’s nothing but sex over and over. In the build up it does add to the plot and the first time obviously is different but after 15 times of the same thing I think we get it. The plot was still good and I did like the book but in some cases I almost felt like it made the book drag on

What a let down. I heard that most people didn’t love the first book but ate up the rest of the series and I do not see how. The first third of the book felt like a mirror of the first book, the way that Rhys was portrayed was exactly the same as Alex in the first book, he even brought out some of the exact same cringey lines. I’m sure this was intentional but I was not here for it at all.

The whole plot was incredibly predictable as well. There was 0 shock factor and literally no twists or surprises at all. As soon as Rhys mentioned his father was from Eldora it was immediately obvious his father was of high ranking etc etc.

Although there was a lot more dialect between the two love interests in this book than there was the first, the spicy scenes felt a little repetitive and got boring by the second one.

I don’t know if it was just me or what but I also did not like Rhys’ character and felt the pairing between the two made me cringe a little.

Also I knew what the next book would be about whilst still reading the first book, further confirmed by the ending of this book. I feel like I don’t even need to read the third book as I already know what’s going to happen.

I'm absolutely obsessed with this book!
A sexy-yet-mysterious bodyguard with a heart of gold (and maybe a hint of darkness), and a down-to-earth princess who's not afraid to get her hands dirty. These two? Total power couple material.

I mean, Rhys?!? He's got that whole "morally grey but secretly a softie" thing going on that just makes you wanna swoon. On my knees for this man. He could take me everywhere he wants, however he wants. The throne scene?!? That's how you serve a queen
