I love this series and always had a lot of fun reading the stories of Cosmo and John.
There's plenty of humour, a well developed world building and quirky and fleshed out characters.
The plot is fast paced, tightly knitted and I kept turning pages as fast as I could because I wanted to know what Cosmo was going to do and what was going to happen.
It's fun series and I think you need the previous books if you want to understand the characters and what is going on. There's some backstory but it can be hard to read this book as a stand alone.
I would be happy to read other stories featuring Cosmo and John, this one is strongly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This third book in the series evidently finishes up a story arc. According to the author note there will be three more books of a more standalone nature in the series.

Cosmo and John are back together, married and trying to make their relationship work. But because Cosmo has the worst luck in the world, and John is a controlling jerk who wants Cosmo to deny his true nature (ok, so I have feelings about John!) things do not run smoothly.

So here’s the thing. I really like Cosmo. I really don’t like John. This is a problem in an m/m romance where you are supposed to root for the HEA. If John weren’t such a rigid jerk a) his extortion cases would have been solved much faster and b) Cosmo being who he is could be a tremendous help to John.

<SPOILER, sort of> The other issue I had here is the the actual big crisis, the basis for everything happening, doesn’t even occur or get resolved on page. There are just references to it. We see the symptoms of the plot, and the on page crisis is scary, but it’s not even clear how it’s going to serve the big plot. These are some of the dumbest villains ever. Plus, there are a bunch of other questions left up in the air.

I was hoping this book would bring about a HEA for Cosmo and John and that there would be more acceptance but thats not the way it turned out and while Cosmo says he’s happy it seems to me like he’s getting the short end of the stick.
