HOLY CRAP! I read this book in a single day, partly because I was so excited for it and also because I couldn’t put it down. I am such a huge fan of Tahereh Mafi's writing, it's so poetic and beautiful. There were many cases when I reread the same passage over and over because it was so well written and I didn't want to move on. So many things happened in this book, and so much new information was thrown out that I’m having as much trouble comprehending it as Juliette. There are so many plot elements that fit into place well, and it does not seem as if they were thrown together in order to get another book or series out of the concept, something that I was a little worried about. Kanji still remains to be an amazing character who adds some much needed comedy and a sense of normalcy to the series, and I am so glad to be with this cast of characters again. I also LOVE the new character Nazeera! The friendship between her and Juliette is amazing, and I hope it doesn’t end badly. The ending left me so off guard and I need the next book right now! Now that this series is officially back, I don’t ever want it to end.

As much as I loved this book, I did have a few issues with it. One major thing that I didn’t like was that Juliette was not as strong of a main character as she was in the first few books. She spent the majority of the book freaking out about how much harder it is to rule than she thought and complaining about the power and role that she asked for. This is kind of part of her character arc, as she did pull it together in the end, but she came across as a little whiny. I also disliked Juliette and Warner’s relationship in this book, which surprised me considering I was completely on board after book 3. I found that almost every romance centered scene seemed to be exactly the same to me. Despite these things, I really enjoyed this book!
