This was more fun than I expected, though rather boringly white and straight. (Not sure why I expected it to be less white for a book set in London in 2020. Hmmmmm.)

Things I liked:
- The setup: Minnie having some kind of New Years Jinx, then meeting Quinn and immediately telling him HE STOLE HER NAME honestly I was maybe screaming a bit, it was so unexpected and delightful (and then finding out they were born a minute apart in the same hospital)
- Minnie and Leila's friendship
- true reflection of how chaotic life really can be in your 30s
- both Quinn and Minnie taking responsibility for their lives and mental health
- the cliched run to reach the person you love last minute to find you'd missed them...except not
- the structure with 2020 progressing interspersed with flashbacks to previous NYEs which showed how close Minnie and Quinn's lives have been
- everyone gets character development, not just Quinn and Minnie

Things I didn't like:
- this sure was white
- and straight. The only queer character in this was a bus driver who appeared at the end of the book.
- I would've liked a more satisfying end to the "Quinn and Minnie have been running into each other/had close calls on various NYEs through time" thread. Quinn showed some signs of realising who Minnie is, but Minnie (whose POV all the 2020 chapters are) does not, and I thought the ending to it was a big let down
- it felt a bit...slightly to the side? Idk how to explain this, it just felt a bit...off. It's probably just the overwhelming white heterosexuality tbh

In the end I liked it all right and it didn't make me want to stab my eyes out.
