The writing is incredible; the story and characters are not my cup of tea. So relentlessly depressing.
cuatro estrellas porque el final me ha dejado confundida, pero engancha muchísimo. me ha gustado mucho también el estilo de ferrante :) sin duda es un libro adictivo, aunque me esperaba que algunas tramas se desarrollaran algo más (me he quedado con la intriga), pero supongo que es algo intencional.

Story about how family drama affects a teenager and the lies adults tell kids and each other. I thought it had great observations and was a well written story. The reveals were done well. There was also a lot about the differences between left wing educated wealthy and the poor they purport to care about. I wasn't too keen on the ending. I loved the characters Vittoria and Guiliana.

in my humble opinion there is a direct correlation between the length and the quality of elena ferrante's books, proven once again by the fact that this is definitely her second best work, after of course the neapolitan novels. while nothing can live up to the latter, this one is pretty incredible too. did not fully like the ending but otherwise a nearly perfect book. she said being a teenager is confusing and messy but being an adult is even more so and i felt that.
