Darkly funny and deeply sad. At times also eerie, ominous, and disorienting in the best kind of way. A take on horror, creativity, loneliness, and the academic world that I didn’t know I needed. The ending was rather ambiguous, and I’m still digesting whether I liked how things wrapped up, but overall it was a really engaging ride!

DID NOT FINISH: 19%

Oh my god I cannot spend another minute with this. The FMC comes off so whiny and self-pitying, her best friend is one of the most selfish, disrespectful, toxic and cringey edgelords I've ever read, and the bunnies are genuinely intolerable. This whole thing reads like something written in high school during the peak of someone's "I'm not like other girls" pick-me era. Maybe that's the whole point and I'm missing the forest for the trees here but I can't listen to another minute of how whiny and pathetic the FMC is. I'm not going to waste another nine hours of my life on this, I'm sorry but I just can't 😮‍💨

This is my second time reading this. The first? I dipped out after the first chapter and condemned this as a a bad book with a narrator who’s ‘not like other girls’.

I was the one thinking I was not like other girls! I had part of the story spoiled for me and I knew I had to revisit it. After the first chapter, I was hooked and could not put it down.

Is the plot perfect? No. I have a good few questions and I’m still trying to wrap my head around things. But it keeps you interested. Every page was like being allowed another lick of your favourite snack, and I was definitely full by the end of it!

Dark, funny, and a story that will confuse you as much at it coairvates you. I know this has a mixed response as a book, but I loved it.
