(1586+) Sir Robert Vicary has been invited to the Barrow-in-Furness Pleasures, seat of the Earl of Reigate, taking his falconer, Thomas Finbow. But murder soon occurs, but the Earl is reluctant for an investigation. Can Finbow discover the truth.
An entertaining and well-written historical mystery.

Disappointing in terms of plotting though delightful in period feel. This is the third of the series I have read and the formula is starting to show through. The denouement is unsatisfactory and smacks very much of ‘putting the book to bed’ as opposed to a well crafted and carefully laid trail of clues.
