He acknowledges being Eurocentric, but gosh, he is so very much so. Also bougie. The descriptors for the people and places come across often as condescending, and he repeatedly talks about the importance (to him) of not paying folks what they haggle for "on principle" (sometimes just slapping down an amount of money he thought fair for a service already rendered and simply walking away from the person who served him) even though he admits he had more money and could afford it. I grew up watching his PBS shows, but his tone here makes me feel as though I'd have the ick being on this trip with him. His utter disrespect at some of the times he took photos, too, was alarming.

So cool to hear about their travels, makes me sad and jealous at the experiences 2 men can have in that part of the world, knowing if I were to have done it myself I'd have a much more difficult time. The audacity of 2 23 year olds in the 1970s is astounding lol
