Really enjoyed this travelogue.  At 23 Rick Steves’ voice is fully formed! I did a combo audio and book experience which worked great with this one.  But don’t miss the beautiful book that the hardcover version is.  Fun photos, maps and more.

If you love Rick's stuff on TV, you'll love this! It's cool to get a glimpse of who he was as he was becoming the Rick Steve travel guru we know today. The postscript/epilogue mentions that the summer Rick and Gene went was the last summer of the "Hippie Trail" because of how the USSR extended through and impacted that area of the world.
