I enjoyed Francesca’s story. I wish we had gotten more of her & Johns relationship at the beginning. But I do love her & Michael & them being best friends, makes me really happy to read about. I liked watching their internal struggles dealing with their feelings for eachother in the wake of John’s death too, very realistic.
The only part I didn’t really like was the whole "seduction" plot Michael started when he got to Scotland. It seemed so out of character. He spent the first half of the book fighting his feelings for Francesca & how he couldn’t be with her cause it "disrespected" John. I agree with them getting married making sense & him proposing & trying to convince her, but when the convincing became seduction, it just felt wrong, & it just surprised me coming from Michael who deeply respected Francesca, but that didn’t feel like respect at all.

If I had a coin for every time Michael growls or grunts, I would be a millionaire.

Or at least very close to affording off campus accommodation out-of-pocket :)

This was so good I was so entertained. I’m genuinely surprised.
The worst part was that I love John, Francesca and Michael and seeing the show right now, and what’s about to come is crazyyy so um. If John was an ass shit would be easier but it’s not he’s so lovely.
BUT MICHAEL. Bro. They’re so Dress coded and he’s her very best friend and I love him and I love how he sees her even if like. The whole situation. It’s so crazy because you have yourself loving both of these fuckass relationships.
If you don’t want spoilers for season 3 do not come forth I’ve warned you

DUDE IM SO LIKE??????? I was literally talking to dehlia about how excited I am to see who theyre going to cast for Michael bc he’s just so. And they genderbended him??????? We now have a Michaela. ALSO WHY DOES FRANNIE LOOK FLUSTERED AT THE FIRST ENCOUNTER. That’s not what happens. She’s not even remotely interested in him/her like that until 4 years after John’s death (rip pookie). It’s fuckass Michael/a that’s already pining LIKE PLEASE dont get it wrong i love them so much. I can already see how theyre going to spin this now and what way the angst is going to go and I just. I don’t want it LOLLL SORRY. ALSO ALSO LIKE IS NEXT SEASON going to be Benedict???? Or Frannie??? I feel like it’s too soon for John to die sorry. But they did just bring in Michael/a so i feel like it’s going to be Ben next with the Masquerade ball bc that’s how he meets Sophie and then John’s going to die end of the season genre. Like last fuckass episode and then Mike goes to India and then season 5 he pulls up and yea. If they do Frannie for 5. If they do Eloise for 5 then same thing just at the end of El’s season. I’ll shut up now. I’m so angered

Anyway!!! I recommend. Cheers

It was enjoyable, but I just didn’t connect with the characters and their story like I did with the first four.

And while I felt similar with Eloise's story in the last book, I found I liked that one more so than this one too. Francesca just wasn’t very likable and I found her to be rather annoying throughout the last 2/3 of the book.

Since she's absent in a majority of the other stories, I wished we just got a little more of her/more personality/growth with her character.

i read the first 3/4 of the book in less than a week (during exams week, too) so it's safe to say i was entertained. i was expecting something cliché and a bit superficial (which i got) but i also liked it more than i imagined. I liked michael as the love interest, and how deeply in love he was...he reminded me a bit of will from the infernal devices. i enjoyed the plot and the exploration of grief, i liked thag things weren't "all about them" and that there was a somber air about this story. it was cliché in many ways but more enjoyable and layered than i thought, i really liked reading this ! i lost interest towards the end of the book and when
michael has sex with francesca to convince her to marry him. i know a lot of people were enthusiastic about the sex scenes in this book, but i didn't like them much (besides from francesca's dom moments lol). i know it has to be time accurate but i'm not a fan of sex being used as a mean of seduction, especially to seduce a woman. i found those parts really weird...the whole wanting to entrap her into marriage or make her pregnagnt so she'd have to marry him :///. i liked michael a lot in the first half but he was kind of a creep here. it wasn't a plot device that i approved of honestly, and neither the whole "yes we are a happy married couple, we fuck all the time and do little else", but that's just life i guess.
i liked the whole pining and friends phase much better, i think that the pace could have been just a bit slower. the epilogue was really cute!
