While reading most of the story, I found it a bit dull. It was only when I read the last part, Henry Jekyll's Full Statement of the Case, that the story had impact on me. and what an impact it had! Difficult to get through, but so worth it.
I thought Treasure Island was Robert Louis Stevenson's only book. But, this is another and it's great! A nice 'gothic' psychological thriller. Kinda creepy... The way he narrated the story is great.
When you read the book you can really understand the feelings of the doctor. Just like many other great books, there's a symbolic meaning hidden in the characters. We all have evil inside. It's our choice to suppress it or nourish it.

The POV, to my surprise, was a clueless detective investigating the link between Jekyll and Hyde. If you, like me, already know the link between those characters, then it sucks what little Victorian (Edwardian?) suspense is left to glean and will make for a dry read. It ranks mid-tier for me as it has inspired much of the fiction I enjoy.
