I liked that this book took on more perspectives. There's a chapter for nearly every character in it. It also moved much faster and helped to explain a lot more things. I’m just sad that I have to wait probably a year to find out what happens next (since this book JUST came out), though I’m grateful it didn’t have a rushed ending. Overall, pretty entertaining.

I really did enjoy this book, it's just as immersive and beautifully described as The Beautiful. I loved seeing so many different perspectives from everyone, it was nice to get almost a birds eye view of the different worlds. I loved seeing more and more into the world itself and seeing the different layers.

I loved the characters — they all really went through it during this book and goodness.

I did have a couple of problems with the book, one being really minor and more nitpicky and the other being something bigger to the overall novel. Starting off with the smaller problem, I really didn't understand why everyone BUT Celine was in first person and she was in third. It was a weird detail to have and it really took me out of the flow of the novel at times. The bigger issue was that I think this book suffered from sequel syndrome — there were so many threads going on at the same time that wrapping them all up felt rushed and got harder and harder to follow by the end. I'm sure it'll all come together in the third book, but right now, it's hard to see where it's going to go.

Oh my fey oh my demons of the night oh my werewolves. I can’t deal. I am deceased and so ready for more. Best sequel of 2020

DNFing this book because I'm not into it. I'm disappointed because I've really enjoyed Renee Ahdieh's earlier work, but this duology wasn't for me.

This was such a great sequel, so much happened, and I can't wait to read more!

I thought this book was a good read but it was really setting up for the third and final book in the series. It didn't feel like much happened to progress the world but instead focused on Sebastien's struggle with becoming a vampire and what is means to him and humanity.
Where The Beautiful felt more about Celine, The Damned is Sebastien's story. Much like the first story we we still get POV from Celine and other people but Celine doesn't really get involved until later in the book. It is also around this time that I feel we pivot from a  historical paranormal to more a historical fantasy in my opinion.

This book does a good job or setting up for the third and where we expect to see it go.
