Didn't have any expectations, but I was surprised.

How dare Renee Ahdieh write that ending? How DARE she? I am furious. I came out here to have a good time and all I'm feeling is attacked.
I'm not gonna sit here and tell you it's a great book but it sure as hell is a great time.
Why are people saying The Beautiful is better? Excuse me? The Damned is SUPERIOR.
Yes, yes, the POV switches from Celine to a myriad of other characters. But, I found that highly entertaining because we get the perspective of supernatural creatures that Celine would not have understood. Also, we get to add on all these new stories and characters that would have been absent while only following one POV.
Where I do not care much for Celine & Bastian's relationship, it is not the forefront of this book and GOD BLESS. We get a taste of Celine's backstory and boy howdy is it interesting.
Odette is queen and...I need the next book...I...if you know, you know...

I fell completely in love with the first book and binged it in one sitting. I immediately picked up the next one but didn’t like it AS much.
why?:
- look i love the fey. but i also love vampires. which is why i started reading this book…. about vampires…. so i was a little disappointed that even with bastien’s transition the vampires still didn’t feel like the focus?
- i also really liked the setting in New Orleans so i wish more of the city was explored. instead it kind of shifted to the Vale and the fey.
- i kind of pictured bastien and celine still ending up in new orleans together and ruling the city but seems like that is not going to happen which is disappointing
- the detective or whatever from paris coming out of nowhere saying he followed celine allllll the way there just for a murder? like why? felt like a cop out and a stupid storyline but

It's not very often this happens, but I enjoyed this sequel more than the first book. Though, now that I've read this one, it does make me want to go back and re-read The Beautiful, not because I forgot anything that happened, but because, a year ago, it took me ages to read it due to my reading slump that's seemingly lasted a whole-ass year.
There were definitely more vampires in this one, just as I had hoped there would be. I think I understand why there weren't in the first book now, which is partly why I want to go back and re-read it. With the way that The Damned ended, I have a strong feeling that this isn't the end of the story because it left a few things open that have yet to be tied up. If there is a third book in the works, I'm definitely going to be waiting for it as patiently as I possibly can.

The first book of this series was hard to get into, but this book was just amazing. I read it so fast and didn't want to stop. I love all the characters and the relationships between them. I can't wait for the third book to come out.
Admittedly the start of this book bored me endlessly but after the first 25% to 50% things really started to pick up, and suddenly I felt like I'd been thrown back into the world of True Blood. Vampires, werewolves, fae... this book had it all.
3.75 !!!
I need the next instalment ASAP ! I’m on edge

hmm, wasn't as good as book one. So much was happening? I got so confused towards the end when it took a turn to the fae land and all that. But, it did answer some questions from book one like what the Brotherhood and the Fallen are. I think there was just too much happening in this book. The Beautiful had a really good story arc because there were different POVs but kind of one continuous plot, with just some mystery from one side. But The Damned was like 8 different POVs and 8 different plots, I felt like I couldn't keep up. That being said, I still liked it and will read the next one.
This book was so much fun! I love how it expanded on the events in the first book and opened up a whole new world of possibilities. I cannot wait to read the next book! 4.5 stars
