I enjoyed this book, but it did not seem to carry well from the first book. It felt like a completely different series. The first one was more about New Orleans and vampires and werewolves and this one brought in Fey. I also felt like there was not enough world building when they added the Fey and the Vale and Wyld. They did not do much with their time in the other worlds and it was not developed it seemed more rushed. Also there was not much built with her relationship with her mother or even her feelings about her mother and finding out she is alive and who she is. The ending also was a little disappointing because of the fact that one of the main characters died and not much was talked about with it and because it didn’t seem detailed enough

So... when is book 3 out???????

I think I enjoyed this book more than the first one, simply because the world-building had been done and we were able to relax into the plot and the characters. Bastien's transformation broke my heart, and I was eager for him to get over himself basically.
SpoilerSafe to say, he did not take transforming into a vampire well, and I was dreading we would get a full book of him sulking and acting like a child. Thankfully not!

Celine's story was interesting this time. I was unsure of how the
Spoilermemory loss
would play into this book, and I sure as fuck was not expecting
Spoilerher to be an ethereal and therefore be able to get her memories back herself
, but hey. Works for me. I think it'll be interesting to see how
Spoilerher mother will play out in the next book, and if they will rekindle their relationship or if her mother is not to be trusted at all. I don't trust her and I would rather Celine stayed away from her, but we'll just have to see
.

There was so much that happened in this book, that I do not think I could sum up how I felt about every single thing. But just know, that I loved this and I need book 3 in my hands immediately. Please and thank you.

Now this sequel was interesting and I’m glad I read it so quickly after the first one. I had so many questions from the last book and I just couldn't wait for them to be answered. Yes, this book answered my questions, but NOW I HAVE EVEN MORE QUESTIONS! UGH, I can’t win! I also have to wait for the next one to come out. So rude.

So for about 35% of the book’s beginning, they focused mainly on the different perspectives of the La Cour des Lions and finally the dynamics of the paranormal element of the book. FINALLY, but I’m still wondering what is going on and how they can survive. Their group is pretty toxic and their leader seems just a little possessive and the reason they have all these terrible problems. I liked that my questions were answered, but I didn’t really like the answers I was given. Does that make sense?

I loved reading Odette’s perspective, this was an element that I was not expecting and I was so HERE FOR IT. Her storyline was so interesting to me and I hope she gets a win soon. We also got to see Jae and Arjun’s point of view which I liked, but IT LEFT ME WITH SO MANY QUESTIONS! There was just so much going on! The questions from the first book were answered, but then those answers made me have more questions. I wanted to pull my hair out!!!

The romance between Celine and Bastian definitely steamed up in this sequel and I was fanning myself from all the hotness for sure! Their forbidden love is sort of corny, but it was a good kind of corny so I was here for it. The part that I didn’t appreciate was the Michael aspect of the book. I mean Celine should have been honest about her feelings and shouldn’t have dragged him along for a ride that will only end up in despair. I’m usually all for love triangles, but this one is just hopeless and I just felt bad for Michael.

The other thing I did not appreciate was the new addition to the supernatural book world, the people of the Vale. So where the hell did that come from and why is it here? I mean the author didn’t even really explain anything about the werewolves and then she added another supernatural element. I want to pull my hair out! I just wish she had focused on one thing at a time so that my brain didn’t explode.

So at the end of the book, there were again so many questions, but this time I’m going to have to wait for the answers. I’m going to die. Send help please in the form of answers for all my questions.
