Damn. The Damned is great! Damned great!
Okay. I’ll quit with the stupid puns. But, truly...damn! I really really enjoyed this next in the series that began with The Beautiful. Which was, of course, beautiful. Heh heh.
Here’s what’s so good: I forget they are not real. Like, I am so immersed in the settings and the story that o forget that I am reading about vampires, werewolves, ethereals and other other-worldly folks. So, when I am forced to stop reading for some mundane thing (food, drink, parenting...nothing crucial), it takes more than a moment to get my bearings. But, it’s worth it!!! So much.

This was nice... I don’t know why my dumbass thought this was the ending of the story so there is still quite a bit left unanswered which explains a lot because I was desiring a bit more development within the relationships had this been the lady book but it was still good. I’m not sure if I will pick up the series again meaning I don’t know if I will remember what has happened and such to continue whenever the next book comes out but if I do I will read on :)
I'm gonna be honest with this one, she's a lil' messy.
It felt like this book was very much set up for the remainder of the world that we hadn't yet seen, and getting us into the bigger plot (hopefully) in the remaining two books. Having a two book setup in a four book series is...generally not something I would advise. There's enough intrigue here to keep me going with the series (mostly because I'm a completionist at heart when it comes to this type of thing), but not so much that I'm DYING to read the next book.
We've been set up for some truly interesting plot and character development, let's just hope Ms. Ahdieh comes through for us in the end.

I really liked the plot…the way it’s written I liked and I could deal with the Celine being 17 since she acted and presented herself as older. I got bored though. but I did finish it and it was just…ok for me. Undecided if I’ll read the third book.
The plot is compelling but a bit disjointed. But more irritatingly the author keeps introducing things that don't exist yet. It's 1872. The last book had cars, this book had electricity. THEY WEREN'T AROUND YET. It really ripped me out of the story haha.
Better than the first book. The pace is quicker and the dialogue is more revealing. The characters have better plots and meaningful interactions.

You know how Throne Of Glass is a cool fantasy about an assassin competition and for some reason all the sequels are about Faeries? Yeah. This was like that. The first one was this sexy, gothic vampire fantasy set in New Orleans and this one was a weird, rushed high fantasy book with vampires and werewolves and fae and goblins??? What even is this series?????
