This series is a bit hit or Miss for me

I really do have issues with some of the books in this series- though I love Ruby Dixon’s writing so much that I continued to buy them. I’m glad I read this one. Everything about this book was wonderful. I liked Jenny right away and Mahl is such an interesting male lead.

The nightmarish big story is disturbing but I’m interested in the conclusion. The kids are absolutely adorable. The only thing stopping me from jumping head first into the final book is that I really don’t care about the future leads. Neither the female nor the male have made me excited to read their story. But, as I said, I do want to know how the arc ends.

Either way, I really enjoyed this story so much. Definitely one of the hits of the series!

The formula for the plot was almost the exact same as the other books but I ain’t complaining. It’s fun and I can just turn my brain off.
I liked Mhal and Jenny fine, nothing special but I would die for Michael. When I thought he was dead I was so mad but then (surprise) he was alive. And even better ADOPTED. I wanted that when he was first introduced and it happened 🥳 this was a little different from the rest of her books in the series as I do not recall any where there has been adoptions. Supporting it fully tho. I also really like their son (fuck his long name) even though he was only in like 2 scenes.

The way this series discusses sex work is disappointing and worse with this book.

Audiobook narration: 5/5
Spice: 3/5 - open door, explicit and repeated
