Beautiful, heartbreaking, heartwarming, and perfect summer vibes.

“Malibu Rising” is a beautifully told story that the author masterfully crafts through time, generations, and characters. Even listening to the audiobook I had very few issues following along or mixing up characters— I was fully immersed in the beauty of this book.

I read two of her other books (Daisy Jones and the Six, the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo) and I am now officially a hard core fan.

I would recommend reading “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” prior to this book because there is some interesting character and timeline overlap. They are both strong stand alone novels, and still I really enjoyed the universe cross overs.

I highly recommend this book, especially as a summer read for the atmospheric tone. One of the best books I’ve read so far this year.

I reallly liked this one. There’s so many elements and characters that weave together to make this a really compelling story. It caught my attention right away and I couldn’t put it down. This author has female lead narratives that are so complex and real, plus the whole generational trauma, & the strength of family is so powerful. I love how there are little crossovers from her other books from similar eras too! The stories feel totally new, but have that bit of familiarity sprinkled in. She’s really made me fall in love with the 80’s, the last era away from the technology that started to creep in in the 90’s. I’m pretty sold on Taylor Jenkins Reid at this point. Can’t wait to read another!
