Not my fave of the series so far; felt a bit all over the place at times. (Note: in this and the earlier books I was reminded about how OBSESSED people were from the 80s-00s about people being fat or not.)

Strikes again, brilliant book that I couldn't put down. Still love kinsey and the scrapes she gets into. I did call the ending but it was right in the last quarter of the book so it didn't spoil a thing. Will be getting stuck into the next one ASAP.

Grafton seems to have fallen into a pattern with these mystery novels: Kinsey runs, eats little, gets absorbed into the world of the person she's investigating, finds out things very slowly, things come right together in the end, and she almost gets killed. Without fail, these themes constantly recur. This novel is certainly no different, except Kinsey is not in her home of Santa Teresa, she's out of her element in a small town called Floral Beach. I've read that Grafton's favorite death is in this book (Oribelle's) yet I didn't find it all that exciting. My favorite alphabet mystery remains B is for Burglar- although this certainly was a page turner and an interesting read. I have resigned myself to reading the whole series- so we'll see if the next one follows the same scheme.

Not the best of the series but still pretty darned good. I love Kinsey. I love the 80s.

I think Kinsey is a great character but this one was a little flat. I understand it picks up again so will definitely continue the series.

Another good one

Lots of turns and twists in this edition. Kinsey keeps you guessing until the end. I was convinced it was someone else whodunit.
