Can’t believe it took me so long to read this.
I couldn’t stop thinking of the movie (as that’s what made me hear of this book). And having both versions of Annihilation in mind let me think of different versions of the biologist/how the biologists in each expedition before must have felt seeing something physical become unreal.
Active transformation is often more terrifying than death.
Side note: I definitely should have read it before city of saints and madmen. May need to try to reread that one.

I lovee environmental horror, I love the idea of rejecting or accepting environmental evolution and accepting or succumbing to the fear of whatever may come of it, I love a book that keeps me guessing!!

4.5 stars rounded up! this was the single weirdest book i have read and i enjoyed every confusing, abstract-but-vivid-at-the-same-time second of it.
when the biologist couldn't even describe the crawler after giving out EXTREMELY DETAILED descriptions of every single thing in this book because the entity was just so incomprehensible to her... chills.
i need to read the other books. this might not be for everyone but it was CERTAINLY for me.
