This was not a good book for me. It was reliving trauma plus drug abuse plus child molestation plus the world's most horrible grandmother. I can see how some readers might find it enjoyable, but I did not enjoy any of it.

More like a 3.5. It was really good, but a little oversimplified, and got a little darker than it needed to at times. I’d still recommend it

I loved everything about this audiobook. The story concept and how well written it is. I connected to all the characters and was invested to listen more.
The narration was fantastic and seemed perfect for each character. I will seek out more from this author.

Quindlen writes every day characters with such grace. Although the family is going through a traumatic experience, the book takes on moments big and little with a quiet force. Ali, Ant, Bill and Annie burrow under your skin. None of them are perfect, but you feel like you know them and you give them space to grow and heal.

It was good, but it was very sad and dismal for a lot of it. Found myself hesitant to pick it up and read it. The last quarter redeemed it, but a tough read for me.
