This was a very good queer YA rom-com. This book was immediately on my radar since I have read Cool for the Summer and cover looks adorable. I was really happy to get approved for an ARC and glad to say that I enjoyed this one quite a bit. I was happy to say that this book had a good amount teenage angst and lots of feels involved. I thought the romance really worked and I believed in them but I could have added another 2-3 chapters easily. Really fast-paced so it’s perfect to get you out of a slump.

This is a wonderful book to start the summer reading season with! Going Bicoastal by Dahlia Adler has a fun premise and keeps you entertained from page to page.

Meet Natalya. She has to decide if she wants to spend the summer in New York City (NYC) with her dad or travel to Los Angeles (LA) and spend the summer with her mom. Through alternating chapters, readers are taken on a journey to explore what happens if Natalya stays in NYC or travels to LA. Are you ready for a bi-coastal summer?

My first read from Adler, and I was not disappointed. I had a phenomenal time while reading this story! I didn’t expect to enjoy the alternating plotlines as much as I did, especially because one storyline always seems more compelling. Adler delivered enchanting storylines on both fronts. I found it easy to follow, and the author made this easy with the chapter titles - thank you, Dahlia! I look forward to reading more of her work.

Thank you to Netgalley, St. Martin's Press, and Wednesday Books for an eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Going Bicoastal was so fresh, so fun, and SO ENJOYABLE! I LOVED the alternating plotlines and found this narrative technique incredible engaging! AND THE ENDING?! Chef's Kiss!

I've read a few of Dahlia Adler's books and compilations, and I cannot recommend her work enough! She is an auto-buy author for me!

Synopsis:
Natalya Fox has twenty-four hours to make the biggest choice of her life: stay home in NYC for the summer with her dad (and finally screw up the courage to talk to the girl she's been crushing on), or spend it with her basically estranged mom in LA (knowing this is the best chance she has to fix their relationship, if she even wants to.) (Does she want to?)

How's a girl supposed to choose?

She can't, and so both summers play out in alternating timelines - one in which Natalya explores the city, tries to repair things with her mom, works on figuring out her future, and goes for the girl she's always wanted. And one in which Natalya explores the city, tries to repair things with her mom, works on figuring out her future, and goes for the guy she never saw coming.

This was such a fun read! We follow Natalya on two different versions of her summer. One where she stays in NYC and gets together with longtime crush Elly & a second where she goes to LA and gets together with coworker Adam. Dahlia Adler did a fantastic job of getting you invested in both love stories so by the end you're happy with both! Or at least I was!

I liked it, but I do have some mixed feelings. Surprisingly though I didn't mind that every other chapter was back and forth between her choosing LA and choosing New York.
