Honestly so rare that a sequel is a better read than the first book. For most of this book, I felt entirely blindsided by each unravelling of well crafted plans within plans, making this book an intriguing and engaging read.

My comfort characters + my comfort universe. Leigh Bardugo, the woman that you are. You put me through the emotional wringer during this book and yet, I’ll be the first to say that it was worth every tormenting second. Am I upset that Matthias died? Yes, extremely. But you will have to pull this book and this world out of my cold dead hands before I willingly let it go and that's on that.
