it’s so difficult to review this book… it is too easy to compare it to the trilogy, which—while flawed—was enjoyable. this is a mindfuck of a book, but not necessarily in a good way.
i think the most challenging part is the difficulty in relating to the main narrators of the three parts. old jim eventually grew on me; “the false daughter” was definitely a great read. but lowry was wholly unlikable.
overall, i think this was tough bc it didn’t really add much more illumination to a mystery that already has so much written about it. however, i did finish it… just wasn’t my favorite read, although it was mesmerizing.

Couldn’t keep up with the story. The series was always a bit confusing for me but this instalment was just all over the place without much context

For me, this diminished the horror/mystery/wonder of the original trilogy. Don’t really recommend it. Didn’t answer any of the questions I was really most interested in.
