If you liked Darker Shade of Magic and Six of Crows this one is definitely for you! This is what I see others comparing it to and I totally agree.
I was completely immersed in this world and loved the magic system. I always love a found family since the magic in this world choose at random. These characters were non-stop and I hope there is more!
Thank you turnthepagetours, sa_christianson for the gifted copy and including me on this book tour!

It was a good read. I didn't love it, but I didn't not like it either. I feel like there was a huge build up into a less than explosive ending. I enjoyed the characters for the most part - Gabriel was a bit of a spoiled child type.
Overall a good read.

An Incarnation of shadow and light!
E-Arc in exchange for an honest review.
I read this book in about 2.5 to 3 days! I was gripped from the very beginning due to the intense world building and action-packed plot. The plot line flowed so effortlessly which made learning the characters and the entire new world a breeze. Usually I have a hard time reading about new worlds because world building can sometimes be long and boring but S.A Christianson somehow made the world building interesting.
The plot was very well thought out, there were not plot errors or jumps.
The characters were well created. I personally love morally grey characters and this book satisfied that for me. By 80% mark of the book I still had no idea who I should be rooting for and who I should be hating.
Spoiler: i didnt hate any of them because they were so well thought out. They all have their own reasons for doing what they do.
If you like betrayal, fighting, magic and more then this book is for you. I kind of got inheritance games mixed with acotar, mixed with GoT vibes while reading. This will definitely be a book I can read again and feel like I will still be learning and discovering more about it.

Oh man, what an adventure this book was!
From the jump, this story gave me all manner of Six of Crows + A Darker Shade of Magic vibes but all make it even more sinister.
This world is so unique and fun, and I was constantly on the edge of my seat to find out what happened next. There were a ton of lovable characters in this tale, some of which I started out despising only to end up loving them later. I’m always very impressed when this happens, and Christianson did a notably good job humanizing some very brutal, ruthless characters. All of our MC’s have a bone to pick with the world they exist in, and sometimes with each-other directly, despite the fact that their reasons for feeling the way they do are entirely different. I so enjoyed reading about each incarnate, and as the story went on, it only became harder and harder to predict where the conflict was going.
It’s hard to review this one without spoilers, but if you’ve been interested in: chaos kids who make terrible decisions but you can’t help but root for them anyway, shifting loyalties where even your favorites cannot be trusted, main & side characters with complex motives, & romantic tension where literally EVERYONE is queer and proud, you will want to pick this book up & thank me later!
S.A. Christianson is an author to watch, and you absolutely cannot miss by picking up An Incarnation of Shadow & Light!
