The story definitely had potential but the writing is a little mediocre and the ending made my eyes roll.

1.5 stars.

Maybe I feel a little bit bad for rating this only 1 star but at this point maybe I don't.

I'm gonna start off by saying that the premise of this was good. It had potential. When I went to the library and saw this book I thought "woah this sounds like my kind of book!" ..I was very wrong. One thing I can say is that this book is written in a pretty unique way. You get the main storyline through the eyes of the MC Emerson, a separate storyline through the eyes of Carl (the only character I even liked in this), another MC, and every few pages the author leaves a poem.

Here's the thing. Lisa, if you don't know how to write poetry, DONT INCLUDE POETRY!!!!

Reading this, the rating just kept dropping. It was sitting at 3 stars, then dropped down to 2.5, then 2, then 1.5 and I considered just not finishing it. This book felt like an absolute chore to finish. I had to physically talk myself into reading it!!!!!

The writing to me felt like a badly written Wattpad Fic, the main character was so fucking annoying at times, and halfway through the book Vince just random starts saying "girl" before every sentence. Where did that come from???? What happened to "Em"?????

It felt to me like the author was trying so, SO hard to get the reader swooning for the romance, or crying because of the sad parts, but there was absolutely nothing that had me attached to these characters. I felt nothing for them. That and the fact that there was no hook? Nothing that really made you wanna keep reading? Man.

Love the idea presented - 24 hours left to live, what would you do?

It looks like the opinions of this book's readers are quite polarized.
I personally really liked it. The characters had to decide how to spend their last 24 hours and we see Vince and Emerson trying to do the best they can with the time they have left. In a way it was like those dreams you have where you're trying to do something or get to somewhere and you're continually delayed and detoured. Despite the criticisms of others, I found this book thought-provoking and well written.

Short and fluffy teen fiction

Em & Vince are two friends, in Portland on the last day before the world ends by asteroid strike

After 18 months living on the streets together, the pair have to decide how they will spend their last day on Earth together

Neat & tidy. Read if you enjoyed They Both Die at The End, Pay It Forward

"Regret is a hard thing to shake."

This one was great for two reasons. One, it was a very good look at the hard moments at the end of the world. Would you do introspect and try to forgive, forget and say goodbye to everyone or would you YOLO and just live your life to the fullest before the end? Lots of tough moments and tough discussions but in the end, it was a little warmer and fluffier than I was expecting.

But the best part was re-visiting many spots in Oregon that I love. Vista Bridge, Enchanted Forest, Shari's (OMG any Shari's lol). So many great spots that I couldn't help but love this just a little more than your average book.

DNF at ?%. Cool concept, but honestly thing my little sister could've written with better sentence structure and adjectives. Also, not sure why you'd want to commit suicide on your last day on earth as it seems completely pointless. Ugh.

Hun skriver endda flere gange i romanen "A book is more than its ending."

Thanks to Edelweiss and Scholastic for early access to this title.

This was an interesting book. Not as good as [b:Life As We Knew It|213753|Life As We Knew It (Last Survivors, #1)|Susan Beth Pfeffer|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1328012816s/213753.jpg|206925], but engaging nonetheless. I did like the relationship between the two main characters, and how it developed throughout the book. I also liked their "mission" for good. I wish it would have spent a bit more time with the older man they first met. Also, I think the plot had a few too many coincident, and the ending is too brief. We don't get a good explanation of what really happened. However, it does have some good messages about living your life and trying to do the right thing.
