Chapters alternate between the two main characters - Zoey and Gavin.

Not What I Expected

I liked Zoey in the first book, so I was looking forward to seeing her story. I was disappointed. As in the first book, we start out by learning that Zoey and Gavin have a mutual attraction, but neither of them knows it. Since this is what we saw with Abby and Zane, it felt repetitive.

That's not the only repetitive thing about the book. Often the characters would state the same thoughts, the same worries, the same observations over and over and over. It made the book drag on.

Things also resolved themselves too neatly. Ridiculous things happened, unbelievable things happened, and conflicts were lacking in depth or realistic resolution. In the end, I couldn't get through it fast enough. It felt like Zoey and Gavin were in lust more than they were in love, which was a waste of two great characters.

Probably my favorite out of the series. I'm not fond of age gap romances but for the most part the plot of this story was well fleshed out (minus the conflict at the end concluding in a very anticlimactic way) compared to the others in the series.

The relationship between Zoey and Gavin was so cute. I’m normally just eh about age gaps, but I really loved this one!

I began with St. Clair’s Graham Brothers series, set in Sheet Cake, TX which is a spin off of this series. So now I’m seeing how it all started. This is the second of the series and I plan to dive right into book three.

Ugh!! Ph my gosh, I loved this book so much!! I immediately loved both the characters, and their chemistry was insane! Not gonna lie, the age gap took me a bit to get used to, but Emma St. Clair handled it perfectly! There really isn't much else I can say without getting into spoiler territory, but you should definitely read this book! It's fantastic, and I promise it'll be worth your time!
